Composition

Alongside his performing commitments as a cellist, Findlay is also a composer who has had his music performed throughout the UK by orchestras, choirs, chamber ensembles and soloists.

He has studied with renowned British composers Simon Holt and Tom David Wilson. His compositions have been performed by orchestras in London and Scotland, including a chamber performance by members of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. 

 

He is composer in residence at St. Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge, where he frequently writes new music for the resident professional choir and organists, as well as congregational mass settings. His time there has seen the premieres of over half a dozen new works including a meditation on the Seven Last Words and multiple mass settings.

 

Findlay has received guidance from esteemed composers such as Sir James MacMillan, Lyell Cresswell and Stuart MacRae.
